One of the royal suites at Museum Hotel, Şelale Cave Suite was one of the last to be renovated. Are you ready to experience a stay in a suite that sits on the slope of a hill, has its own private garden, and, of course, a fabulous view of Cappadocia?
The rock-hewn tunnel to the entrance gives you a clue as to the kind of dream you’re entering... The tunnel opens into the bedroom, decorated with traditional Turkish fabrics and antiquities. The living room features wooden handiwork, a fireplace, and an amazing view of the Cappadocia landscape. The washbasin and shower area is a design wonder. Another tunnel takes you to the Jacuzzi, featuring a most beautiful view of Cappadocia. Enjoy the pleasure of spending time in your Jacuzzi while gazing at Mt. Erciyes, the Red Valley, and Göreme. The marble fish pool wrapping the Jacuzzi features a small water cascade, şelale, supplying water to the pool and giving its name to the suite, and has been designed to give you peace. In the past, Europeans used the word muhteşem or ‘magnificent’ for the 10th Ottoman emperor, Kanuni Sultan Süleyman. What other word can describe perfection and splendor better?
This is a Spa suite formed by joining the spacious and royal Sultan’s Cave Suite to the cozy and private Guvercinlik Cave. After entering the room via its own cave tunnel, you will understand why we talk about perfection: a vaulted stone bedroom constructed in the Seljuk architecture style, two different bathrooms, two double Jacuzzis, a Sultan’s divan, a Sultan’s private cave, a wine cellar, a massage room, not to mention the rare and priceless antiques... all some of the exquisite touches this suite offers. Traditional Seljuk masonry is best exemplified in this room, which also features a breathtaking view. The Turkmen who lived around the area of Museum Hotel belonged to the Tekeli clan. Since they gave their name to the district, Tekeli, we chose Tekeli Cave Suite to show how these people used to live.

Two fairy chimneys located right across from each other are known as Çatalkaya by the locals. Right in front of this room sits one of the Çatalkaya and thus we named the room after it. The most attractive detail in this room is the splendid bathroom and the magnificent view offered by both the bathroom and the main room. Enjoying the Jacuzzi and gazing out at the scenery, and spending time in front of the fireplace in cold weather are some of the things you’ll want to do in this room.

This room was a shepherd’s home and stable in the past, and thus we named it to reflect that. Next to the suite’s entrance is an old shepherd’s cloak. The ancient feedboxes in the stone holes that animals were tied to have been carefully preserved and decorated with antiques. The area where the shepherd lived is still present, now turned into a living room. You will understand how much he liked to enjoy life when you enter the room.

Elegant Cave Suite is situated at the end of a cave tunnel, with its entrance door opening into the bedroom. The room is connected to an escape tunnel, which thus gives the name. Who knows, maybe in ancient times the residents used this tunnel to flee danger or to protect themselves and their families against Byzantine soldiers. The bedhead, decorated with a Byzantine pillar, gives a distinct feel. Perhaps the most interesting part of the room is the romantic cave Jacuzzi room decorated in marble. Tafana means “tandoor room,” from which this suite takes its name. It was carefully renovated, being sure to preserve the underground tandir (tandoor) oven and chimney. To keep the authenticity, we preserved both this oven and the blackness on the ceiling caused by its use. The room has been decorated with priceless antiques, and the living room offers a splendid view of Cappadocia.

This room was formerly a kitchen, with the family who used to live here using the room not only as a kitchen but also for heating. They also pressed grapes to obtain grape juice and boiled the juice on the fire to produce molasses. In this multi-purpose kitchen there was a tandir (underground oven), the şırahane grape pressing apparatus, and a weaving loom. During the restoration, we had to cover the weaving loom area, but the tandir and the press have been kept in their original places.
The suite consists of a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and an ‘Oriental unit.’ You can relax on the sofa and gaze out at the amazing Cappadocia view. The room has been decorated with priceless antiques, including 18th century cloth and an 80-year-old bridal sheet—in its original color and texture as if brand new. The spinning wheel in the room belonged to the old landlord.

Lalezar means tulip garden, and this suite’s name comes from the tulip motifs you can see in the room. The suite is multi-storied and boasts an extraordinary view. Being located snugly in the corner of the hotel, this room has one of its best views. From its sitting room, you can enjoy the view of Pigeon Valley and the glory of Mt. Erciyes.

The local people have always referred to the town of Uçhisar as ‘Ucasar,’ and so we gave the name to this room. The double story was originally used as a duplex house by the owner: the upper floor was used as living space, while the ground floor was used as a storage area for grapes and other types of food. Nothing was altered during the renovation, so as you experience the breathtaking view of Cappadocia from this room decorated with priceless antiques, you will feel part of the history of the room.

Located at the end of a half-open cave tunnel, Safir Cave looks onto our Garden of Eden at its front. The garden features peacocks, pigeons, and roses and is extremely attractive, especially when cast with the first rays of the sun. The magnificent bathroom, one of the best examples of marble workmanship, the wine taps pouring red and white wines of Cappadocia, and the rock structure preserved with careful decoration all go to make this room special.

Castle Cave, located right on the edge of the Uçhisar Castle, is one of the most important symbols of the castle and thus why it takes this name. It is believed that this was one of the watch points of the castle back in ancient times. The natural structure of the room has been kept intact. Cappadocia is famous for its pigeons, as well as for its beautiful horses, and therefore nearly all the valleys have dovecotes (güvercinlik). This room contains one of the oldest and biggest dovecotes in all of Uçhisar. During the meticulous renovation, all the original details were left intact. Although this room is a bit smaller compared to some other rooms in the hotel, the exciting tunnel access and the magnificent view of Cappadocia makes this a worthwhile choice.

The entrance of the room features large bellows. These belonged to ‘Uncle’ Hasan, a former owner of this house. Uncle Hasan used to sharpen iron pieces in the fire he lit with the help of the bellows on the rock next to the house, and, in fact, earned money by doing so. The window of the room opens onto the turtle garden. During summer, colorful roses, and in winter white snow surround you. There are also very special old carpets, tent decorations, and ceramic works of art in the room.

You can reach Direkli Cave through a long natural tunnel. Locals always referred to this room as Direkli (pole) Cave, and hence the name was kept. The column in the room was present in the original cave and was kept intact during the renovation. The Anatolian divan style seating has been decorated with antique handmade carpets. You will be fascinated by the 150-year-old tent decorations, the copper plates, and embroideries. On the chaises longues in the front of the room you can enjoy the magnificent sunset of Cappadocia
