Discover the special services at the five Lufthansa hubs in Germany, Austira and Switzerland as well as the other Lufthansa departure and destination airports worldwide
Relax, rest or work at any of the major international airports – the lounges provided by Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners enable you to do so.
In international and German domestic travel, the liability for damage, destruction, loss or partial loss and for late delivery of baggage is limited to a cumulative 1,131 Special Drawing Rights (SDR) per journey and traveller.
Our customers check in around 50 million items of baggage every year and each item is given a baggage tag. These enable bags to be assigned to the relevant flights in the airports’ baggage handling facilities and loaded into the aircrafts’ cargo holds.
If you are travelling with an animal, please find out before booking your flight about the import and export regulations for animals in your desired destination country as well as the animal welfare provisions which must be complied with.
The laws of all countries prohibit the transportation of certain items in checked-in baggage or in carry-on baggage as these could endanger the aircraft.
When travelling with Lufthansa you also have the option of taking ski baggage with you on all routes except those from/to the USA, Mexico and Central America* (does not apply for the new Economy Class Light fare on routes within Europe – see below).
Because of limited capacities and differing rules on partner airlines, we cannot guarantee when you book that your ski baggage will be accepted in every case.
The fees* apply if their checked baggage meets the allowed pieces but possibly exceeds in weight and/or dimension. Please note that if you have a piece of baggage that is too heavy and too large, charges for an additional piece of baggage may be incurred.
